Established in 1874 by Rev. Paul, Minnesota, and is accredited by the Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.Macalester College offers degrees in a variety of majors and an honors program. The average class size is an 11-to-one student-faculty ratio.The college gives grants to academically talented students for research programs, and beyond the classrooms, students are given ample opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities within and outside the college.Macalester College’s campus houses 10 residence halls, five language houses, a library, the Olin-Rice Science Center for the natural sciences, and a humanities resource center.The academic buildings and library include state-of-the-art technology and the residence halls offer a variety of living experiences, from traditional dorms to apartment-style suites.The DeWitt Wallace Library is located at the center of the college campus. The library is the storehouse of the important data related to the college since its establishment.The Katharine Ordway Natural History Study Area is spread over an area of 280 acres of lush land in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.It was established in 1967, by Macalester College for biological and environmental education, restoration activities, and to protect the natural environment.
