Prototype Curtiss JN-4D from the right

Here we see the prototype of the Curtiss JN-4D, the main production version of the aircraft, from the right-rear. This picture was taken on 24 June 1917, when the aircraft had just been completed. The prototype differed from the production version in having ailerons on both wings, and by having tall exhaust pipes that vented above the leading edge of the upper wing.
